our story
Kate, now based in Connecticut, started as a dog behavior consultant and trainer with the renowned group Doggie Academy in Brooklyn, NY in 2013. She is fully certified by both IAABC and CCPDT, and regularly participates in continuing education to learn the most current methods and research. Prior to becoming a trainer, she was an instructor at the City University of New York for many years.
Now back in her home state, Kate brings her expertise to High Ten Dog Training, which opened in 2021.
Kate has enjoyed the success of two published books. Her first, BKLN Manners™: Positive Training Solutions for Your Unruly Urban Dog, addresses: B: Barking; K: Knocking people over; L: Leash walking problems; and N: Naughtiness when alone. Her second book, the award-winning Play Your Way to Good Manners shows you how to approach your dog's manners training as a collection of cool tricks, exciting sports moves, and interactive games.
Speaking of sports, Kate and her dogs have enjoyed competing and practicing dog parkour, agility, tricks, scent work, barn hunt, and rally obedience.
Kate is a rescue advocate who gravitates towards senior and special-needs pets. She volunteers with Blind Dog Rescue Alliance and has provided assistance to rescue groups near and far.
